Sign up bonus from p2p-platforms

Updated: Jul 4, 2021

I'm strongly invested in p2p- and p2b-platforms and am quite happy with the interest that they generate. Many of these websites give a sign up bonus for new customers when they use a referral link. So I checked on my p2p-accounts for my referral codes and want to present them here.

Bondora gives you 5 Euro when investing at least 10 Euro and stay invested for 90 days. Bondora gives only 6.75 % return (APY), but many investors cherish Bondora for their transparency and liquidity. The money is not invested in a specific credit, instead it is invested in the product "go and grow". If you need your money you can withdraw it quickly, and don't need to wait for a credit to be paid back - many people use it to deposit money that they might need in the next months. Also, you don't have to worry about defaults of credits, because defaults are already accounted for in the calculation of the return (this is one of the reasons, why the return is so low). Everyone from EU and associated countries (EEA and Norway) can invest in Bondora.

Crowdestor gives a 1 % bonus for every investment within the first 90 days. The interests are 15 to 36 % APY right now (before Corona it was more like 15 to 25 % giving me a steady 18 % APY). At Crowdestor you invest in small and medium enterprises (SME) or real estate in eastern Europe. Be careful: the interest is high, but the chance of defaults are high as well. Especially since the beginning of Corona many Borrowers struggle. Crowdestor asked the investos how to handle the situation and a majority voted that Crowdestor shouldn't be too strict about collecting the money. Still, I think that Crowdestor could do a better job – I don't want to go into detail here, just don't put too much money in it. Anyone from EEA, Switzerland and UK can invest.

Greenrocket gives a bonus of 2 %. The interest rates are 6 to 8 %. Greenrocket focuses on sustainable projects. The projects often originate from young founders in Germany and Austria, e.g. from scientists who developed a product during their PhD and want to bring it to the market now. I consider it an investment in the scientific future in Europe. The minimum investment is 250 Euro. There is no buyback guarantee. Investors from Germany and Austria can participate.

Housers gives you 25 Euro when you invest 50 Euro (Updated July 2021). It is a platform for real estate credits from Spain. The APY is ~9 %. There is no Autoinvest, so you have to invest in every project by hand. The minimum investments are 50 Euro per project. Sadly, there is no buyback guarantee. But given that you get a bonus of 50 Euro, you won't lose money if your 50 Euro credit defaults. Housers is available for investors from many countries, however there are exceptions, such as US-Americans, Russians and a few more are not able to open accounts.

Kviku gives you 20 Euro when you invest 100 Euro. The interest is between 10 and 15 % APY. All investments are done by an autoinvest function. To fully invest the 100 Euro I recommend to set the autoinvest to a fixed amount of money, e.g. exactly 10 Euro per loan. If you introduce a span, not all of the 100 Euro might be invested immediately and it will take longer to get the 20 Euro bonus. The terms of the loans are very short (max 180 days, usually shorter), so if you want the 120 Euro back, then you can set your portfolio inactive and wait for the loans to be repaid. Kviku provides a buyback guarantee. As far as I know, everyone can invest.

Lendahand gives you a discount of 25 Euro on a 50 Euro investment when using my referral code (7YPY-7QQH-92PY you can paste it at the checkout "Add Coupon"). They have a very low APY of 4 to 6.5 %, but the money is used to finance small companies or families in emerging countries, so the low APY is compensated by a social impact. Some credits have a buybackguarantee for 50 % of the invested money (meaning that you won't lose your 25 Euro if the credit goes into default). Lendahand is international and in general, everyone can invest. However, right now, there seem to be some issues with different countries (like UK, which gives the companies troubles due to the Brexit). In the FAQ they state that you should write to the support if you're having trouble.

Neo Finance gives 1 % of your investment per month for the first three months. So, if you invest 100 Euro, you will get 3 Euro. The interest is between 7 and 23 % APY. The benefit of Neo Finance compared to the other websites is, that you have more control in which credit you invest. They rate the credits and give additional information about the credit (e.g. if the borrower uses this credit to refinance another credit). Again, you can invest by hand or by an autoinvest. When setting up an autoinvest, you can choose to add a buyback guarantee, which means, that if a credit is in default, then Neo Finance will buy your share of the credit – so, your risk of losing money is decreased. Everyone from EU can invest at Neo Finance.

Trine gives you a 10 Euro discount on your first investment. So, you can get a credit worth 25 Euro and pay only 15 Euro. It is a Swedish company dedicated to finance renewable energy pojects around the world. APY is 4 to 9 %, not much, but good for our world. They have an Investment Protection which covers 50 % of the outstanding principal, meaning that when a borrower doesn't pay back anything then you still get 50 % of your invested money back. Anyone from EEA can invest at Trine (European Union and associated countries).

Twino gives you 15 Euro when you invest at least 100 Euro. The interest is between 10 and 14 % APY. Here, you invest in single credits, by hand or by an autoinvest – just like viainvest. The credits with 10 % APY work fine for me. However, for the higher yield credits, you need to invest with a "currency exposure", a feature that I don't really like: You pay your credit shares with either Euro or GBP, but the credit is paid back in a different currency. So, if the other currency increases in value, then you get more money, but if the currency decreases, you get less money. If you keep investing for a long term, then these fluctuations will average out, but for short term you increase your volatility and I prefer a low volatility. So, I stick with the lower yield credits (10 % APY), which is not optimal, as there are not so many credits available, and my money is not invested all the time. A big plus is, that Twino has a secondary market, which means, that when you want to withdraw your money, but it is still invested, then you can sell your shares of the credits to other users. Everyone from the EEA can invest at Twino.

Viainvest gives you 15 Euro when you invest at least 50 Euro. All my investments on this website are at 12 % APY. Unlike Bondora, you invest in specific credits. The investments can be done by hand or by an autoinvest-scheme. It is best to distribute your money between several credits – I usually invest 10 Euro per credit. When you want to withdraw your money, you can turn off the autoinvest and wait for the borrowers to pay the money back. Or you can stay invested and be happy about the increasing amount of money. Everyone from EU and Switzerland can invest at Viainvest.

Sadly, my favorite p2p-website doesn't give you a sign-up bonus, but I'm going to mention it anyway. It is Mintos. Mintos is a marketplace, where credit lending companies sell shares of their credits to private investors. Mintos ranks the credits and gives you a nice amount of information about them. You can find credits with APY between 7 and > 20 %. I only buy credits with a buyback guarantee, to decrease the risk of defaults. You can invest by hand, by an autoinvest or you can invest in a product similar to bondoras go and grow (I prefer the autoinvest, though). As there are many companies and many features, setting up the autoinvest appears a bit complicated when you do it the first time – if you don't know what to do, feel free to ask. If you want to withdraw your money, you can sell your credit shares on a secondary market. At Mintos you can invest with lots of different currencies. Unlike Viainvest, when you invest in a foreign currency, you get your interest in that currency and you can exchange currencies with a fee of ~ 0.7 %.

I hope this increases your awareness of the p2p-sector. Still, there are a lot more platforms out there, some even with specific target groups (e.g. for sustainable projects).
